This is an entry for 
's 'Emotions' contest. I wanted to do a picture relating to winter, and I saw that she was holding a contest, so I figured, why not? 
It's supposed to portray the emotion of the longing I sometimes feel during winter. In this case, longing for summer, although I do love winter. XD It's also supposed to portray loneliness or sadness. There's not really a story behind this. Anyway, this was done in Prismacolor colored pencils. Ignore the fail background. XD

Oh, this is beautiful! 
First of all, let me start off by saying that I really love the title! XD Even though it's only a minor part of the artwork, I think it does a great job of not only explaining the message behind the artwork, but also the actual drawing itself! I love the wintery atmosphere that you created in this drawing; and I can definitely relate to the theme that you portrayed so effectively! Especially in wintertime- people long for summer! I also really like the color scheme that you went with; the simple grays, whites and browns are really beautiful! And the toning is done so well- the shades are also drawn out really beautifully! I especially love the highlights and shadows on the hair!
The expression on the character is really wonderful; it does a great job of portraying 'longing'. And the posing and hand motion only adds to the overall feelings that you were drawing out in this piece of work! Besides the expression, I'm also really drawn to her eyes and hair. The background does a nice job of emphasizing the face, and although it's simple, it draws you towards the character and still does a nice job of adding some additional detail in the drawing!
